The news of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death sent shockwaves across the nation. The actor was found dead at his Mumbai home on June 14. The actor lived on the sixth floor of Mount Blanc Apartments, Joggers Park, Bandra West. He was just 34 when he ended his life and was suffering from depression for the past six months.
The actor’s mortal remains were taken to Cooper Hospital in Mumbai, for postmortem. According to the report, his cause of death is asphyxia due to hanging.
The reason for his suicide, however, is not known and an investigation is underway. The police recovered some items, including the actor’s medical records, for the investigation.
Sushant Singh Rajput is survived by his father, Dr KK Singh, elder brother, and two sisters. The actor had lost his mother when he was 16.
Sushant Singh Rajput’s funeral will be held in Mumbai today. The actor’s family members arrived from Patna, his hometown, at Mumbai’s Kalina airport, late Sunday night.
Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, limited number of members of the family will be allowed to attend Sushant Singh Rajput’s last rites. The rest will have to say their goodbyes silently.
Sushant Singh Rajput had carved a niche for himself in the industry by starring in several films and television shows. He made his Bollywood debut with Kai Po Che in the year 2013, marking a successful transition television t films. The film, directed by Abhishek Kapoor, also starred Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh, among others.
Sushant Singh Rajput was last seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore. The film released in September 2019 and starred Shraddha Kapoor as his love interest.
The actor also starred in hit films like Kedarnath, Ms Dhoni: The Untold Story and PK. His next, Dil Bechara, was scheduled to hit the silver screens on May 8. The release had been deferred due to the novel coronavirus crisis.
The death of the incredibly talented actor has been mourned by celebrities, sports personalities, political leaders and fans.
