Microsoft Outlook for Android gets Play My Email feature, limited to US for now

This is not a completely new feature though. Microsoft did talk about this back in May and said it will reach Android in future.

While Google’s Gmail has been getting regular updates and integrations, Microsoft is also not behind with its email client – Outlook. The newest feature that has come to the email application is ‘Play My Email’ feature. As you may have already guessed, this essentially reads all your emails to you while you work on something else, making you slightly productive while at work. This feature is limited to Outlook for Android right now and has come as a part of an app update.

In case you are an Outlook user on Android, you can enable this feature by tapping on the profile picture at the top left corner and choosing the Settings Menu. Inside the menu, this feature can be found right below the “Organize mail by thread” option. This is not a completely new feature though. Microsoft did talk about this back in May and said it will reach Android in future. This was spotted by Onmsft first.

But reading new emails is not the only thing that this feature can do. It can work with other tasks as well. “Introducing Play My Emails — listen to a natural read out of new email and upcoming events while you walk the dog or get your steps in for the day. You can even reply quickly using your voice. Available for eligible accounts in English in the United States,” says the full release note of version number 4.2031.2.

Back in May this year, during the Build 2020 conference, Microsoft also introduced text predictions feature for Outlook.
